Malaysian environmental organizations are joining hands to run a series of online petitions to garner public support and increase awareness on the state of Malaysia's natural forests and reserves. SHARYN SHUFIYAN speaks to the petition organizers to get the lowdown on these petitions.

Wild Asia Heroes: Tijah Yok Chopil

Wild Asia nominates Tijah Yok Chopil, an indigenous woman of the Semai tribe as our fourth Wild Asia Hero. Tijah has devoted her life to empowering and uniting the once-scattered Orang Asli's of Peninsular Malaysia. Her dedication led to the historic 3,000-strong protest at Putrajaya in March this year. Jules Ong is honoured to meet this formidable woman at her village in Bidor, Perak.

Women in Papua New Guinea - A New Voice

Women in Oil Palm Network, Papua New Guinea (WOPN-PNG) organized a workshop to develop a strategic plan that will address human rights abuses due to oil palm development, government-made discriminatory practices, and non-adherence to customary principles. SHAFINAZ SUHAIMI provides an insight.
