About Plant-a-Tree Programme
Plant-a-Tree is a special progamme we created to support Wild Asia's Natural Corridor Initiative. We work with landowners to secure land for conservation and we seek individual or corporate donors to support the tree planting efforts. We usually aim to have trees planted during one of our annual tree planting events. Support us to create new wild-lands for wildlife and local communities.
Give back and support Plant-a-Tree.

Why are trees so important?
Here are some basic reasons as to why trees are important to us:
- They are home to other species which help maintain the health and quality of the ecosystem we depend on
- Other than providing much needed shade, trees help to cool the overall environment and thus play a significant role in stabilising weather patterns
- With trees comes biodiversity, which in turn provides sources of food, medicine, natural products like wood and leaves for craftwork, and ecosystem services such as managing Earth's supply of fresh water
- Natural landscapes of trees also have recreational and tourism value
What happens when I purchase a tree online?
An email notification will come to us and your purchase will be recorded. An email will be sent to you, acknowledging receipt of payment and informing you of the upcoming tree planting event when your tree(s), as well as those from other generous buyers, will be planted (it could be in 1-2 months or as soon as the next week!). After the trees are planted, a Wild Asia Tree e-Certificate will be sent to you electronically, together with a photo of the species of tree(s) you purchased, along with other details of where it is planted.
What does my e-Tree Certificate mean?
Your electronic tree certificate is a symbol of your commitment to the protection of our Earth's precious heritage - its trees. You do not in anyway "own" a tree but have contributed to one (or more) being planted.
How will my "Gift" be used?
Each "Gift" will provide for a seedling to be bought, and contributes to the programme to ensure that tree parties are organised and, where necessary, to the landowner for land preparation costs or light maintenance. We try to seek commitments from our landowners to make sure the trees are looked after over the next 2-3 years. This usually involves pest and disease control, labour to manage weeds, and fertilising as well as watering the trees.
How can I learn more about the tree(s) I sponsored?
Through your e-Tree Certificate, Wild Asia will send you information about the species of tree(s) chosen and details of the location where they were planted. Wild Asia aims to regularly monitor the trees on the ground and will provide updates at least annually. Information will be posted online here.
Will my tree survive?
Our success rates so far have been good (at least 70% survival rate) but we are dealing with many factors that are beyond our control (seedling health, weather, soil conditions, pest attacks). We try to seek commitments from our landowners to make sure the trees are looked after over the next 2-3 years. This usually involves pest and disease control, labour to manage weeds, and fertilising as well as watering the trees.
Can I visit the trees that I have sponsored?
Each tree will not be labelled with the name of the buyer. So it will be difficult to locate the trees you sponsored amongst the other hundreds or thousands spread throughout many tree-planting sites. Wild Asia aims to regularly monitor the trees on the ground and will provide updates at least annually. Information will be posted online.
Do I get to choose the species of the tree(s) and plant the trees myself?
Since buyers from anywhere in the world can purchase the trees online, we hope they trust our good sense in deciding on the species best suited for each site. This will help to ensure that the trees establish well and grow without much adaptation stress.
How will I know that my tree(s) will not be harvested in decades to come?
Wild Asia works with private landowners who are committed to setting aside land for conservation. Furthermore, the species of trees are selected for their ability to support wildlife (food source, roosting sites, etc) and the environment (stabilise the soil, buffer zone establishment etc), rather than for their economic value. We are also working to get "conservation commitments" from the landowners so that they make a pledge to protect the trees and area.
