About our Natural Corridor Initiative

Ever thought why we don't hear birds in the cities? Ever thought about how much of our land is being developed each day? We gave this some thought and realized that we simply need more natural areas! Read up about how we work with land owners to give back land for conservation and work with donors around the world to support tree planting as a means to create space for wildlife, reduce our carbon footprint and get people outdoors.

Go wild!

What differentiates a home from a house is the symbolic meaning one attaches to their residence. Some might call it their sanctuary, a place to rest or a place for family get-togethers. Imagine being robbed of this sanctuary, having it bulldozed in front of your eyes, forcing you to flee. Imagine the vulnerability, the lost, the need to survive. As human activity such as urban development and deforestation increase alarmingly, our wildlife is facing this problem.

Due to urban development, our wildlife are being threatened and driven away from their natural habitats. Wild Asia's Natural Corridor Initiative (NCI), was initiated as a way to tackle this problem, where natural corridors are created to enhance our natural landscapes and provide our wildlife room to live.

Natural corridor is a vision!

Natural Corridors Initiative is a vision to see more wild spaces in our neighborhoods, in our cities, and in rural areas to provide more space for wildlife to exist. Our approach has been to work with private land-owners to secure land for the creation of natural corridors; we simply feel that there is more likelihood of having the trees looked after on private land than on common, public land. Part of the incentive is that we come with our own trees as we also work with donors to gift a tree for their loved ones, their friends or those looking to offset their carbon footprint.

Why?

The simple reason is that protected areas are not enough. Beyond the endangered wild species, such as elephants, tigers or rhinos, many thousands of species survive outside of protected areas. The quality of our environment, be it in urban or rural areas, is dependent on these species. We believe that by working on our own "backyard" environments, we can raise more awareness about environmental stewardship and for creating a better environment for people and communities.

What we do

Working with landowners

Got land to spare? We are keen to work with landowners to set aside land for conservation. This involves the identification and protection of high conservation value habitats, as well as, the creation, rehabilitation and extension of wild lands along natural waterways and wetlands. Helping you to learn more about what you have and to find ways to enhance your local environment is what we would like to do.

Plant-a-Tree Programme

Plant-a-Tree is a special progamme we created to support Wild Asia's Natural Corridor Initiative. We work with landowners to secure land for conservation and we seek individual or corporate donors to support the tree planting efforts. We usually aim to have trees planted during one of our annual tree planting events. Support us to create new wild lands for wildlife and local communities.

Give back and support Plant-a-Tree.

Who supports our work?

Our work is supported by a combination of willing volunteers, private donors and the occasional grants. Finally, a big thank you to our partners that have supported us over the years.
