Heroes in your backyard
Wild Asia Heroes is a project to recognize the unsung heroes in our community. We want to honour ordinary people who are making a difference on the ground protecting the environment and empowering communities. Each month we highlight a new Wild Asia Hero, and at the end of the year we will open up the voting to select the Ultimate Wild Asia Hero. About Wild Asia Heroes

25 JAN 2010Wild Asia nominates the villagers of Bukit Koman as our first Wild Asia Hero. The 300-odd families have been fighting an uphill battle to protect their community and the environment from potential contamination by a gold mining facility in their village. JULES ONG reports.
