The Hospitality Inspiration Programme was a pilot project with Hilton Kuala Lumpur in 2010. The aim was to helping socially excluded young people gain employment and training in the hospitality industry. The same model can be applied to industries across the board, maintaining the idea that talent is only at arms reach - organizations basically need to partner with someone at ground level to create these opportunities.
By reaching out to 17-20 year olds from shelters, orphanages, halfway homes, and underprivileged communities; Hilton Kuala Lumpur demonstrates its commitment to the community in which it is based. On the other hand, Wild Asia provides the logistical and conceptual support needed to make the programme a success.
Together, we tested and proved that this model for community engagement which is scaleable and can be reproduced within the Hilton chain in Malaysia. And for Wild Asia, this project thought us that opportunity given to those who are hungry for it will go far and that homegrown talent are within arms reach.
