Reef Check Programme Manager- East Malaysia

Based in Kota Kinabalu, the candidate will work largely independently of head office and should be self driven and results oriented with a proven track record of success implementing conservation projects in collaboration with various stakeholders. The candidate must demonstrate the maturity and credibility required to deal with individuals from many backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

- Establish a Reef Check EcoDiver training programme in East Malaysia for dive operators, resorts and interested individuals.

- Establish a coral reef monitoring programme in East Malaysia, using the Reef Check survey methodology, to cover major coral reef areas.

- Assist with the delivery of education programmes in schools and coral reef conservation programmes with relevant stakeholder groups.

-Contribute to public awareness campaigns on coral reef issues, including contributing to RCM's existing communications programmes

- Establish and maintain a network of contacts among key stakeholders including local government, dive operators, resorts, academics and NGOs.

Requirements:

- Degree in Marine Science or related discipline.

- Certified diver, preferably minimum PADI rescue diver (or equivalent) and 50 dives.

- Two years experience in marine conservation or related position.

- Applicants must be able to demonstrate good communication skills, able to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences from a wide variety of communities.

- Suciently mobile and flexible to travel up to 2 weeks a month.

- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

- Malaysian citizen.
