Volunteering with Wild Asia gives you the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team promoting social and environmental understanding of our natural world. Wild Asia is unique in that we strive to engage both the business and local communities to bring about an awareness and commitment to conservation. We work with a range of partners, are involved in both environmental and social conservation, and are active in different sectors such as tourism, plantations and forestry. We are a small team and there is an opportunity for shared learning and for making meaningful contributions.

What skills do you need?
We have learnt that it takes all sorts to drive conservation ideas - there is no fixed background that we are looking for - so consider applying if you have a science, finance, marketing, humanities or arts background. If you would like to be involved with Wild Asia, send us your application. Remember, we not only work with biologists, but over the years our projects have also brought us in contact with IT specialists, designers, writers, graphic artists, and filmmakers.

Scope of work at Wild Asia
- Researching a problem or issue and helping us strengthen our knowledge-base.
- Helping our partners to develop nurseries and a native tree-planting programme.
- Producing short videos, podcasts or photo-journalism stories that communicate what we do.
- Being sent out to work with village communities to document their natural landscapes, knowledge or products.
- Writing features and conducting interviews that help people understand the issues that impact our wild places.

- The specific programme from our initiatives that you are keen to work on or that interests you
Please take note:
- Volunteering is open to everyone (Malaysian or other nationalities).
- We prefer post-graduates and generally do not have an age limit.
- We are keener for placements over three months in duration.
Finally, some of the financial costs you need to be aware about:
- All placements will start and end in Kuala Lumpur. This is an important requirement of our programme to ensure you leave with clear objectives and training and return to provide feedback on how to make the project better.
- We do not have allocations to provide you with a salary, per diem or other allowances.
- Flights to and from Wild Asia (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) or to a placement site will need to be covered by the intern/volunteer.
- You will need to provide your own travel/health insurance.
- If available, we may be able to provide you with basic lodging in Kuala Lumpur at our office cum hostel.
