Wild Asia @ Sigar Highlands
by Wild Asia
Wild Asia @ Sigar Highlands is a Natural History learning opportunity to understand what and how the values of our natural areas benefit us. This new initiative allows us to feed the right information to developers for them to understand and know the area they are working on so that these natural areas can be conserved.
The courses at Wild Asia @ Moonriver is a collaboration between Wild Asia, Moonriver Lodge and experienced practitioners in their respective fields. We wanted the courses to provide a link between expert knowledge and the public at large. The courses are designed to cater for adults and are adaptable to older children.
Our courses are designed to give people the basic skills required to contribute back to the land: the organic farms, the natural forests or work in the communities. The idea is to build an army of skilled volunteers who would be able to grow and hone their interests to be useful not just at Moonriver but beyond.
Courses we run
We have developed three educational themes that we run at Wild Asia @ Moonriver. The educational areas we are keen to expand include: (a) Forest Restoration - knowledge and tools required to understand how forests work, to be able to study it's dynamics and tools to start some experiments in forest restoration; (b) Rainforest Conservation - to introduce and enhance our understanding of forests. It is about experiential learning and about making available specialist knowledge available on the rainforest, its plants, wildlife and more; and (c) Back to Basics - Is a series of courses to allow you to rethink the way you live, to rethink the food you eat and to give you the skills to design, produce and build your own sustainable home.

We need your support
Wild Asia @ Moonriver needs financial support. We are looking for sponsors to provide us with support to help us in a number of ways: capital to initiate more demonstration projects; education funds for local farmers and communities; forest funds for the ecological restoration work. Contact us if you would like to be part of this unique initiative.
