Wild Asia’s Sustainable Palm Oil Journeys is an annual study tour programme designed with visits to independent palm oil producers. The tour will provide an understanding of how palm oil products flow from farm to mill. It also includes visits to farms that have made the transition towards regenerative agriculture.
The study tour is a good opportunity for participants to interact with the Wild Asia team and to see the big picture in the role that sustainable agriculture plays in the production of palm oil. A key feature of our study tour is the opportunity for participants to gain an insight into Wild Asia’s efforts in organising and supporting small producers to meet RSPO certification standards and to implement regenerative agriculture practices through on-farm demonstrations and interactive sessions.
The study tour is designed for anyone who is part of the palm oil value chain – from the end-product manufacturers and ingredient manufacturers to palm oil processors or those who are keen to learn more about sustainable oil palm.
“This study tour really helped me to understand the challenges faced by smallholders to achieve certification and I can see that the smallholders appreciate the day-to-day engagement and support by Wild Asia, as opposed to just receiving a premium for their crops,” – says Shiro Chikamatsu, a sustainability consultant for KOSÉ.
