Established by Wild Asia in 2006, the awards are the first of their kind in Asia, rewarding excellence in responsible tourism. Learn how you can enter this year's award below or read more about our past winners (2009, 2008, 2007, and 2006).

Why the Awards?

A growing concern is plaguing the tourism industry: how will it address the complexities of building sustainable destinations and wake up to the challenges of global warming and climate change?

We believe that sustainable destinations can be made a reality by promoting, sharing and inspiring change from within the travel industry. To do so, we have aligned our Responsible Tourism Checklist according to the UN's Sustainable Tourism Criteria. The criteria "serves as the minimum standard that any tourism business should aspire to reach in order to protect and sustain the world's natural and cultural resources while ensuring tourism meets its potential as a tool for poverty alleviation." The Awards have given us the opportunity to highlight operators that are making a significant difference based on these criteria serving as tool to reach and inspire others.

We need your support

We are on the lookout for sponsors for this year's Responsible Tourism Awards. We need sponsors to help cover the cost of the event: site visits, production of informational material, the closing event and training workshops associated with the awards.
